Brother Bastion is an acoustic Folk-Punk Singer-Songwriter from East Lancashire. A well seasoned musician for over 20 years, he writes songs that tell stories about people, places, war, social/political situations, and does so on his terms. Imagine early Billy Bragg mixed with a little Pogues, a dash of John Lee Hooker and lyrics as acerbic as anything Jello Biafra could deliver, and you may get the picture.
Creating his sound with an acoustic guitar, harmonica, stomp-box and loop-pedal, Brother Bastion truly delivers a big sound for a solo acoustic guy. His songs are often more upbeat than the more melancholy stereotype many would (wrongly) associate with acoustic music, and it this along with a strong sense of diversity that enables him to be just as at home playing in a rock venue, as he is at an acoustic club.
Over the past few years, Brother Bastion has supported and shared the bill with many well-known acts both on the acoustic circuit, and beyond. Notable gigs have been opening up for Terry Hall of the Specials, Ex-Adverts frontman TV Smith, Derrin Nauendorf, Harp and a Monkey. He has Also clocked up quite a few festival appearances at places like Beat herder, Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival and many more.
